Bermuda Red Cross Donations
Hosted By: Bermuda Red Cross -registered charity #113
The Bermuda Red Cross is appealing to the Bermuda community for donations to support the large-scale relief efforts of the International movement. Typhoon Haiyan, locally known as Typhoon Yolanda, struct the Philippines on 8th November 2013. With reports of winds over 190mph it is considered the strongest storm to ever make landfall - and one of the most powerful ever recorded with thousands feared dead. It has caused widespread damage and millions of people have been affected; including those already left homeless by the earthquake that struck in mid-October. As well as the earthquake in October the population is already vulnerable due to a series of storms that have crossed the Philippines at typhoon strength since August, 2013, causing the ground to be already saturated and increasing the risk of land slides and flooding.
