“This year’s Pride panel explores the enduring nature of resistance in queer lives—not only as a response to oppression, but as a powerful force for survival, celebration, and identity. Under the theme “What We Resist Will Persist”, we reflect on how systems of exclusion often reproduce themselves unless they are actively challenged, and how resistance, too, becomes persistent—passed down through generations
This panel will spotlight the many forms resistance can take:
- Political protest and cultural defiance.
- Queer nightlife and underground club scenes.
- Art and expression that challenge the status quo.
- The act of living authentically in spaces not built for us.
- The creation, preservation, and defence of safe(r) spaces for joy, healing, and community.
Importantly, this conversation also honours allyship—those who show up, create space, and stand alongside queer communities in acts of solidarity. Resistence is not only something we fight through alone but something we build together.
Through shared stories and reflection, the panel invites us to explore how resistance persists, evolves, and transforms—and how Pride remains both a celebration and an ongoing act of protest and celebration.
