This camp is for children born in 2007-2008
The Explorers camp will take place on Trunk Island and campers will be guided by the book ‘World Without Fish’ by Mark Kurlansky, becoming ocean guardians. Campers will start the week with an Oceanography 101 course to understand how the ocean works and what conditions fish need. They will explore different marine habitats across the island including a trip to North Rock, weather permitting, to finish the week. Throughout the camp, they will learn about the various threats to local and global fish populations and examine how people can help prevent further extinctions. It is strongly advised that applicants be competent swimmers as they will snorkel everyday, often conducting scientific surveys. Dr. Alex Amat, the instructor, will email parents with updates during the course of the camp.
A list of what your child needs to bring to camp will be emailed to you in mid-June. Prior to your child starting camp, you will be emailed a schedule of their daily activities.
